SGD320 for 2013 registration. Students will need to personally go to British Council or ICON+, the appointed Registration Centre for the British Council, to register. It is advisable for students to call the test centre to check for test availability before heading down to register.
The listening, reading and writing test must be completed on the same day. There are no breaks between the three written tests. The speaking test may take up to seven days before or after the other three tests.
Academic – for institutions of higher education. The Academic format is, broadly speaking, for those who want to study in English-speaking universities or other institutions of higher education. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the result of the Academic test.
General Training – For school, work or migration. The General Training format focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts. It is typically for those who are going to English-speaking countries to do secondary education, work experience or training programs. People migrating to Australia, Canada and New Zealand must sit the General Training Test.
There are no restrictions on re-taking IELTS. If you do not get the result you wanted, you can register for another test as soon as you feel you are ready to do so.
