Before deciding on which tests to take, make a list of the colleges you are considering. Then review school catalogs, College Search Engines or college handbooks to find out whether the schools require SAT Subject Test scores for admissions and if so, how many tests and which subjects.

You should register online on www.collegeboard.com.

Subject tests such as World History, Biology E/M, Chemistry or Physics should be taken as soon as students complete a course of study in that subject, while the material is still fresh in their minds. Other Subject Tests, such as languages, may require at least 2 years of study in the subject.

However, just because a school will accept the ACT does not make it the preferred policy. You need to speak to our college admissions counselor if you are considering this option.

No. The exams are given at the same time, so you must plan your testing calendar to allow for taking the SAT and the Subject Tests on separate dates. You should also note that Subject Tests are not given on the March date and not all subjects are given on all dates.
